The Christmas Chronicles (2018)
mini review
There’s “Hallmark Bad,” and then there’s “Worse than Hallmark Bad.”
Somehow, the NetFlix original “The Christmas Chronicles” (2018) manages to fall into the latter category, and at what can only be the greasy bottom of that barrel.
Kurt Russel must be painfully short on money to have accepted a role in this dumpster fire of a film, and he’s the slimmest or silver linings that made this even barely watchable.
It’s approximately an updated version of “The Santa Clause” (1994), complete with “Christmas being ruined!” and a little kid trying to convince someone else to believe in the magic of the holiday.
That’s about where the similarities end though. The rest of the movie is filled with bad CGI and a tween girl screaming for extended periods of time, all haphazardly plastered over a script of “witty” dialog and shoehorned tropes.
“The Christmas Prince” isn’t any better, but at least it’s “Hallmark Bad.” Go watch that.
