Tomb Raider (2018)
extra mini review
The 2013 “Tomb Raider” videogame sought to reboot the series, including a more reasonably proportioned Lara Croft.
The 2018 “Tomb Raider” movie was supposedly based on the game, though as far as I can tell, the director simply saw the game’s box art and decided to make a film.
Lara Croft (played by Alicia Vikander - “Ex Machina” and “The Man from UNCLE”) is portrayed as the average “I need saving” female lead, instead of a badass, do-anything-to-survive femme fatale that Camilla Luddington voices for the game. Vikander’s distinct lack of acting range does her no favors either, as her emotions range from “sad” to “staring into space.”
