19 years ago, I started my first play-through of Pokémon Silver. I was in second grade, I had an ‘atomic purple’ GameBoy Color, and I chose Cyndaquil as my starter.
This was the cinematic embodiment of every single-player first-person-shooter game on the market.
“Ready Player One” is one of the few instances where the movie is actually better than the book.
“Better” in this context being that slamming your hand in the door once is better than doing it seven times.
